2013 - 2014 Season
A Note from Vanessa
Some days, doesn’t it feel like you’re hurtling along at the speed of light - barely skimming the surface? No time to feel the earth under your feet. No time to look up and see the sky.
Well, I prescribe a night at the theatre. Here at Alberta Theatre Projects we aim to ‘stretch as deep as life, as wide as the world.’ Our specialty is contemporary work – plays both recent and new that speak passionately, humourously, eloquently and inventively about the joys and contradictions of being alive right now. In my opinion, nothing is more invigorating for an audience to experience, nor more exciting for a theatre company to do, than that.
In this season’s line-up you’ll see just how wide, just how deep we’re stretching. Timely, lyrical, fantastical, original: it’s a season of contrasts and unexpected journeys. I hope you’ll find that it reflects the vast canvas of modern life, and celebrates the incredible variety of contemporary theatrical expression.
