Alberta Theatre Projects Fast Facts
· ATP was founded in 1972 as a childrens company specializing in historical plays.
· ATP's original home was the 198 seat Canmore Opera House at Heritage Park.
· ATP has received 62 Betty Mitchell Awards since the awards founding in 1998. |
· Our current home, the 480 seat Martha Cohen Theatre, is designed so that not a
single member of the audience is further away from the stage than they were in the
old Opera House.
· As of 2007/2008, ATP has produced 323 plays, 227 of them Canadian. (70%
Canadian content during our 35 years)
· As of 2007/2008, ATP has produced 117 world premieres.
· ATP is a national center for the development of new Canadian plays through our two flagship events the Enbridge
playRites Festival of New Canadian Plays and The Banff Playwrights' Colony.
Enbridge playRites Festival of New Canadian Plays Fast Facts
· The Enbridge playRites Festival premiered in 1987, a featured performing arts event of the 1988 Olympic Arts Festival.
· As of 2007/2008, the Enbridge playRites Festival has produced ninety world premiere plays. Subsequent productions of fifty six of these plays have appeared across Canada soon after the festival.
· Enbridge playRites plays have been performed over 230 times around the world.
