New Plays in Development

It's not just 5 weeks of new play fun! We're always working on the Enbridge playRites Festival of New Canadian Plays; inviting playwrights from across Canada to develop projects by offering dramaturgical feedback, readings and workshops of scripts in progress. The public is invited to participate by attending the Platform Play series during the Enbridge playRites Festival of New Canadian Plays.

Playwrights in Residence

Playwrights have always been at the heart of Alberta Theatre Projects. Each season, we invite a few Canadian playwrights whose work we are developing for production to join us in residence. The ATP Playwrights in Residence program fosters new work, shares expertise and multiplies our relationships with writers.

Script Archive & Library

SHHHH! It's ATP's best kept secret; ATP maintains an ever-growing inventory of approximately 1,500 scripts from Canadian and international playwrights, many of these plays are not otherwise published. The breadth of the collection reflects ATP's unequalled contribution to Canadian playwriting over our history. Access to the library is by appointment only.

Raucous Caucus: Emerging Artists Assembly

Students, emerging artists and those that support them are invited to join in a weekend of new work and candid discussion about the future of Canadian theatre making. This event is sure to ignite imaginations with panels, artist talkbacks, networking and our Student Writers Group event, Fresh Prints. Check out the Raucous Caucus page for more information.
