24 Hour Playwriting Competition
Here's your chance to test your playwriting mettle during the Enbridge playRites Festival of New Canadian Plays. Pay a mere $24 and spend 24 hours writing an original play. ATP will feed you, take care of you and give you moral and technical support. The competition, which takes place at the New Era Technology training centre, starts at 12:00 noon on Friday, February 29, 2008 and ends at 12:00 noon on Saturday March 1 2008. |

Chosen by a jury, the top three plays will be announced following the performance of The Gift of the Coat by Sean Dixon on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 which all the participants will be invited to attend. Fabulous prizes will be awarded for the top three plays. On Thursday March 6 2008 there will be a staged reading of the winning play by Downstage Performance Society at the Aurburn Saloon at 6:00 pm.
If you would like to apply to participate in the 24 Hour Playwriting Competition please fill in the online form below. Since we usually receive more applications than there are available participant slots, all applicants will be entered into a lottery that will decide the 24 participants and the order of the waiting list. The draw will take place at 4:00pm on Friday February 15 2008.
If you are selected as a participant you will be informed of your selection via email on Friday, February 15. At that time your participant fee will be charged to your credit card (whether you accept your slot or not). You will then have until 8:00am on Monday February 18 to accept your participant slot. Failure to do so will result in your slot being offered to the next person on the waiting list. If you are on the waiting list and become a participant because of such an instance, you will be contacted via telephone immediately and your participant fee will be charged once you have accepted your participant slot. There is no charge to register. Your credit card will only be charged if you are selected as a participant.
